Last night I went outside around 11:30 to observe the Moon with Mars over top of it. I was attracted to two bright stars to the left of the Moon and Mars and was surprised to find that one of the bright stars was actually Saturn. It was a gorgeous night out-cool with a breeze-very welcome after the scorcher of a day we had. Spring left quick and summer’s heat and humidity is here. The fireflies delighted me again. There must have been five hundred or more dancing through the meadow behind the house.
While viewing the night sky and the fireflies I was remembering all my family members and friends and those I do not know who have served or are currently serving our country as it was Memorial Day. To my knowledge my family started serving in World War One.
Unbeknownst to me a little warrior was taking his last breath. I received the news today that a friend’s young son had passed away yesterday. He was a fighter from day one and was always smiling. It makes me sad.
Tonight I have rededicated myself to living in the moment, finding beauty in everything and trying to spread happiness. The purple hydrangeas and petunias make me smile. I enjoyed running in the rain tonight. And I wish you all peace, love and happiness.

So sorry, Becca, to hear about your friend’s son. It is always difficult to accept why a young person should leave this world after only a short time here. I will be saying a little prayer for his mother, as losing a child must be one of the worst things to experience.
I find beauty when I glance out one of my front windows to see a couple of wild brown rabbits hopping along in the front yard to reach the patches of clover to munch on the sweet treat (I live next door to a 40-acre cow pasture, so lots of wildlife to enjoy). It is beautiful to see my two sweet terriers curled up next to each other, taking a quick nap. The sun coming back out after a summer shower that was dark and stormy. Any flower in bloom. Birds in flight. The moonlight of a full moon illuminating everything in the neighborhood, kind of spooky but also beautiful. Friends laughing together. The first eggplant growing on the bush, a lovely deep purple shade, soon to become eggplant Parmegian!

Life is too short to waste and my husband and I are determined to live for the moment too. I love him so much and want to fill my days with memories of good times (and I know bad too) with him. So we try to have fun each day even if it is just going for a walk or a picnic. One of our favorite things to do is go to the mountains and just walk and talk. Thanks for your good wishes and the same is wished for you too.
